At Anthem.AI, we’re rethinking and redesigning how to help clinicians do the best job in caring for their patients by building new technologies and tools. Traditional clinical trials are often based on small numbers of patients, and those patients often aren’t as diverse as the general population. It’s also hard to study drug interactions in small trials, particularly when people have multiple health conditions. By drawing from millions of anonymized patient records, our tools are able to recommend prescriptions and treatments on the basis of the experiences of thousands of people just like the patient in question. This raises crucial design questions: how can we make these processes transparent and trustable? How can we understand what information health care workers need to make decisions, and present it to them in a powerful and actionable way? We’re building a great design team who take seriously this opportunity to improve healthcare in a fundamental way. Come join us!
Senior Interaction Designer
As a Senior Interaction Designer in anthem.ai’s design group, you’ll use your strong interaction design and research skills to build healthcare workflows and experience maps, and develop interaction designs for new products to fit into those workflows. Your work will involve a mix of research and design for complex, data-intensive digital products used by healthcare professionals and patients. You’re comfortable with all phases of the design process—from early stage product discovery to developing and iterating on mature products. This is not a role to do pixel-level interaction design, but someone who will study and understand healthcare workflows to develop interaction designs for new products to fit into those workflows. You will produce plans, documents, and roadmaps, and mentor other team members on the best interaction flows, systems, and frameworks.
You’re an organized, flexible, and motivated design professional, comfortable working in short iterations, providing insights, actions and observations on a tight turnaround. You need little supervision to manage your workload or structure your insights. You have an entrepreneurial streak always seeking to improve existing products and identify new product opportunities. You deeply understand how to prioritize information needs – understanding, for example, what information physicians need to know in what order, and what should be emphasized in the interface. You’re skilled at communicating effectively in visual, written, and oral formats— and can engage and influence a variety of audiences. You enjoy collaborating with our teammates in design, product management, data science and engineering to explore, create and iterate actionable, interaction flows and designs your teammates can iterate and build up from. You’re comfortable working in cross- functional teams and with senior leadership.
These describe what we think might be the ideal person for this role. We don’t expect every candidate to have all of these. The most important thing is that you have a broad toolbox, a flexible mind and can work quickly to explore and articulate workflows and broad concepts regardless of where an idea comes from. You must love to learn.
You appreciate that changing the world is a team sport and a spirit of generosity is key to delivering quality, engaging, innovative and truly useful products. You’ll have significant experience bringing a wide range of user- research-driven new digital products to market, and understand the difficulties and opportunities of such positions. You recognize and embrace the importance of diversity in teams. The ideal candidate has a Masters in Interaction Design, HCI, Information Science, Cognitive Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in B2B environments, healthcare or other regulated sectors, is a plus, but so is experience in rich emotionally-driven consumer interfaces such as game design, theme parks, location based entertainment, or high-end retail.
