About you
You are naturally curious about human beings and their behavior, and you are passionate about solving big problems through human-centered design. In this role, you’ll help teams understand our customers from different vantage points and unpack mental models and motivations with the goal of improving our products. You will be empowered to work autonomously and creatively every step of the way.
You have experience conducting a broad range of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, and you can adapt methodology to answer the right business questions. You have a passion for measuring the impact of user experience and using data to help drive strategy. You enjoy teaching and learning equally, and you embrace experimentation as a part of progress. You collaborate well with all kinds of people, and you’re adaptable, eager to learn, and looking for a team to grow with.
Responsibilities
-Collaborate with design, program management, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to help identify and prioritize the most critical research questions guided by customer needs and business objectives
-Establish clear metrics for measuring success and track those metrics over time, engaging stakeholders in that process.
-Manage research participant recruiting, scheduling, compensation, and other logistics for studies
-Plan and execute research using a variety of methods such as surveys, field research, interviews, concept testing, diary studies, usability testing, etc. We value your ability to be creative when thinking about the research problem you're trying to solve.
-Partner with product designers and product managers to validate and test design prototypes
-Analyze data and create actionable insights and recommendations for the team and company to deliver continual customer experience improvements
-Review and integrate analytics data from a variety of sources to amplify research insights and provide a holistic picture of customer insights.
-Share research findings to all levels of the organization through a variety of creative formats (insight decks, videos, etc.) to help our organization maintain a deep understanding and empathy for our customers.
-Participate in product decisions from definition to launch to feature evaluation, working at both a strategic and tactical level.
Qualifications
-5+ years of hands-on experience designing and conducting user research. This includes planning, recruitment, data collection, synthesis, reporting and socializing research.
-Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences, such as psychology, anthropology, human factors or a related subject area.
-Communication skills that influence and inspire change. You know how to synthesize the data into a coherent and truthful story, and how to create effective ways of sharing your insights so they resonate and are impactful across diverse audiences.
-Experience with qualitative (and some quantitative) research techniques, along with the knowledge of when, why, and how to apply them.
-Ability to demonstrate how your research had an impact on customer experience and influenced product and design team decision-making.
-Excellent project management skills and experience tracking project performance
-Comfort in complex or regulated industries
-Meticulous and exceptionally detail-oriented
-Experience creating personas, user journey mapping, and JTBD frameworks
-Familiarity with agile software environment
-Experience with and interest in mentoring other UX researchers
Nice to haves
-A graduate or postgraduate degree in behavioral or social sciences, such as psychology, anthropology, human factors or a related subject area.
-Experience in healthcare, Health IT, or electronic health record space
-Experience managing projects with legal and compliance involvement
-Experience with product analytic apps like Mixpanel and Full Story
-Comfortable performing statistical analysis and quantitative research (e.g., SPSS, SQL, etc.)
