Job Description
This Structural Package and Product Design position will be focused on a combination of packaging & product design and will be responsible for assisting the creative team with the following: design research, design concepts, sketching, and ideation under the mentoring and guidance of the Creative Director. This position will assist with research, concept sketches, Solidworks 3D modeling, 3D printing or foam prototype models and collaborate closely with other industrial designers, packaging engineers, CAD designers, and product managers. The PKGDZN leadership team will help train and educate the designer on the basics of packaging materials and design.
Qualified candidates must have recently or will be graduating in December 2023 with a BA in Industrial Design/Product Design and be able to share a portfolio of relevant design work. Working knowledge of Autodesk Sketchbook, Solidworks, Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Keyshot is required. Basic knowledge of using Microsoft Office includes Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must demonstrate basic creative and analytic skills through traditional industrial design sketching, drawing, or computerized drawing techniques. Additionally, this candidate should have some basic knowledge of engineering and manufacturability constraints.
Must have good communications skills, verbal and written. Strong team focus and ability to work with others, both internal and external to the organization. Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate with all levels of the organization. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to prioritize projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent follow-up skills. Must be organized and detail-oriented in order to be successful.
The work location is a hybrid option requiring the candidate to work minimally several days in our Vernon Hills, IL office and can work several days from home. Only candidates living within 50 miles of our Vernon Hills, IL office will be considered for this opportunity.
