Job Description


The User Experience & Interface (UX/UI) Designer of the Digital team will be a well-rounded design thinker, grounded in logic, structure and process. They will be an advocate for the customer, and possess a penchant for visual and emotional solutions and an interest in experimentation.


Design Research (40%)

- Work with Associate Director of UI/UX and stakeholders to define new site features
- Proactively engage with internal or external users to validate product design decisions
- Assess site usability
- Regularly perform competitive analysis
- Keep up on design trend, and present relevant findings
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data from usability tests, website analytics, and business analytics
- Leverage data to produce actionable reports and make value-driven design decisions
- Research user data tools, and provides recommendations with pros and cons for software or hardware
- Research extensions, plugins, and frameworks, and provides recommendations with pros and cons
- Create test plans for new site features and current site features
- Report tests and site data to key stakeholders and designers

UX & UI Design (40%)

- Develop user personas for new site features, layouts, hierarchies, and experiences
- Flowchart user journeys through the website shopping funnel
- Create user stories for new site experiences
- Create, review, and modify wireframes and designs
- Create interactive prototypes for more complex experiences
- Create specifications, acceptance criteria, annotations, or animations for user interactions, features, and experiences
- Create and/or update style guides and pattern libraries to provide consistency with color, icons, buttons, and other aspects related to the general look and feel of the website
- Provide constructive feedback and criticism, complete with data when possible, on others’ designs and prototypes
- Assist in the implementation or development of new features and experiences
- Assist in updating site content using a content management system

Project Management (10%)

- Work with Associate Director of UI/UX, an agile team of engineers, visual designers, content/marketing strategists, and other resources as needed to develop project scopes for new site features
- Lead brainstorming and cross-product team collaboration sessions
- Act as a product manager and owner for new site features
- Create roadmaps for digital product and feature lifecycles

Other duties as assigned (10%)


The ideal candidate:
- Has a process for discovering new digital products, features, and experiences, identifying stakeholders, creating requirements, developing roadmaps, and owning execution
- Is comfortable with Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, Hotjar, Google Optimize, Google - Analytics, and Microsoft Office365
- Has a strong knowledge of front-end languages (HTML, CSS & JavaScript) and how design decisions translate to code
- Has experience building pages with both WYSIWIG and code in an ecommerce platform (Magento experience is a huge plus)
- Is successful working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
- Has the ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and flexible during times of change
- Has excellent communication and presentation skills, including communication with team members, cross-department partners, the executive team and other internal and external stakeholders
- Has the ability to read and react to different audiences, and adjust communication style effectively
- Is strategic, entrepreneurial, optimistic, action-oriented and decisive
- Has the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment


- 3+ years of direct work experience in UI design, UX design, or product design; Ecommerce industry with a focus on mobile or responsive design highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings
- Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with team members in other locations (up to 5% of time may be required for company travel)
