This project brief was to design a humane mouse trap using a unique mechanism.
Following research into existing products and mice I came up with this final idea.
I found out from my research that the smallest mice is three grams (3g) in mass and that mice like tunnels.
My final idea consist of a tunnel like entrance. The tunnel is attached to a ramp which leads to a bait which is on the inside of the trap.
This part of the trap has been designed to be very light weight so that it lowers as the mouse climbs up the ramp on the inside to get to the bait. When it is lowered, the magnetic plate on the ramp and the floor of the trap engages and entraps the mouse/mice. It can later be realeased back into the wild through a flap on the back of the trap.
The front of the trap where the tunnel entrance is situated will be injection mould using Polypropylene. The rear clear part of the trap with the floor will also be injection moulded using polycarbonate. The RRP of this product is £9.99.
