The Sanigator
The objective of this course was to develop a solution to reduce readmissions to hospitals within 15 days. Our group decided to take on the area of infections acquired by lack of and improper hand washing. The solution that was developed was a device that mounts above a door handle that sprays a liquid alcohol solution. The spray occurs when a sensor senses a person’s hand is on the door handle or knob.
This project also provided me with the great benefit of working in a team consisting of members from all different fields. It provided me with a small sample of how work is conducted on real projects and I am very grateful for the experience. So, I'd like to note a special thanks to my instructors of the course for this opportunity: Dr. Ellen Do, Dr. Craig Zimring, Dr. Jeremy Ackerman & David Cowan.
