Monoposto - Single seat commuter funster.

I've always been a huge fan of Gordon Murray's Rocket, & wanted to do my own interpretation of this layout.
Ford Capri re-design. - Artwork for Autocar magazine article - designers were asked to generate their interpretation of a contemporary Ford Capri.
Speedster - Open funster.
Iguana decapotable - Open topped version of an earlier car design sketch.
Monoposto racer - Lightweight racer based on earlier design.

I've always been a huge fan of Gordon Murray's Rocket, & wanted to do my own interpretation of this layout.
Iguana
Super-lite - Lightweight track-day toy.

A study inspired by design details on a tractor I had worked on and the Smart Roadster I was driving at the time .
Quick sketch. - Alias Studiopaint practice.
Baby Jag Roadster - Quick sketch in Alias Studio Paint
Nomad Rural Adventure Vehicle. - A crossover between lux-SUV and those mad Icelandic lava pit nutter-buggies.
Landspeed - Long before we finished the Dieselmax project with Mike Turner's sublime bodywork design, we were sketching wildly different shapes for landspeed racers.
Whilst probably being aerodynamically hopeless, I always liked the pseudo "Batmobile" looks of this sketch.

Also, it could only ever be this colour.
Off-Highway Hedonism - Rework of an old sketch for an off-highway leisure vehicle.
The working brief was to "out-Hummer the Hummer".

  • Cheers Dave. Doing a "ute" version is a great idea, something to keep me busy for the next few lunchbreaks.

  • Cheers Mike. Vehicles of this type need a Sumo's attitude otherwise they look permanently "en pointe" - painfully unbalanced & not particularly tough!

  • such a powerful stance that guy has

  • Many thanks for the comments guys. Ed - see your in-box. Lucy - always welcome from such an original thinker.

  • Very nice interpretation of the Capri. Yellow & black is perfect color combo. Thanks for your reply on the '55 Pick-up. I looked at Mike Turner's early '50's 3-D rendition of the truck. I really like it!

  • Retro Hot Wheels classic. Reminds me of 80's style Italian concept work. I like it. Well Done!

  • Gary, The profile and stance makes it stand out...some Italian influences. Awesome!

  • Thanks again mate. It's been an absolute pleasure working with you old friend, the professional sympatico we've always had will guarantee our "re-group" on the far side of this temporary setback. All the very best of luck in Potsdam Mike, I'll be out there to visit very soon. All my love to you, Rach and Freya, Gaz x

  • hey i too remember those 80s concepts but the design is wow...........loved it...........

  • uber cool design. I'm a fan of your rendering style.

  • I love this one Gary. It would be an awesome looking vehicle in "the flesh". The fender treatment reminds me of the Mazda RX8 but is so much more appropriate and purposeful on your design. I'm partial to the blue too. It matches my Toyota 4x4.

  • Thanks Doug. This was done way before Mike Turner and I had even met Richard Noble and Ron Ayers (the aerodynamicist who did our car and Thrust SSC) and I didn't really have a clue about contemporary landspeed car designs. This was my "tip of the cap" to Malcolm and Donald Campbell's Bluebirds.

  • Gary! Love this one! Much more exotic than the Hummer ever could be. Great work.

  • Cheers Don This was originally done back in 2001 as a concept vehicle aimed at a guy named Vinnie Jones - a famous ex-soccer player and now "actor" (he was in the re-make of Gone in 60 Seconds) who had once said to my boss that he wished we'd do a brutal street-car to bully other road users in. It gave me an excuse to go ape.

  • Gary! I love the stance of this design. Looks like a quick little speedster. Love it.

  • Thanks Don This was one of my first Studio Paint doodles (great tool, I wish I still had it instead of Photoshop) and I still kind of like it - despite the fact that you probably wouldn't see much behind you.

  • Gary! That would make a very cool commuter! Very well executed! The detail is great.

  • Thanks as always Don. The production of a super light vehicle suited to solo commuting, that could also provide weekend thrills is now even more relevant to the auto industry - I'm just hoping that Mr Murray revisits his original concept.
