The Cellar Door

Fall 2010

The Cellar Door is a wine shop designed for wine lovers of all levels. The place where sales take place in a winery is often called the cellar door hence where the name comes from come. The objective of this project was to create character by its social implements. Another challenge was to create an organizational concept based in geometry. By using a grid and overlapping circles an organization for storage, stairs and shelving was created. The organizational concept also guided me to create soffits and a floor pattern following the geometry. The character concept of being a friendly store for people with different levels of knowledge of wine is shown by the choice of materials. Dark wood flooring and light wood shelving is used to create a warm welcoming feeling.
