Based on my thesis research regarding Recipe Design, I developed three guiding principles to redesign a unique cookbook. These guiding principles would allow a recipe to be more accessible and deliver clear message to readers. Wordless Cookbook aims at teenagers and college students who have a little knowledge of cooking. With the principle of 1. setting a clear visual language to make a clear distinction between ingredients and cooking procedure, and to deliver straight message, 2. developing detailed pictogram and illustration to minimize potential confusion and to add visual excitement as well, and 3. understanding the scope of the dish: visualizing the different pieces to the overall recipe to help a cook managing cooking time by employing time line and diagram.
