Yamaha PT3 - Initial Concept Sketches - Goal after the research phase was to design a medium strong desktop cordless drill with an almost sculptural appearance.

Yamaha PT3 - Power Mode 2 in Pistol Grip Position - In the power mode 2 the Pivot Power button glows read and the drill has swiveled to a pistol grip position. The charging level button shows that it is fully charged.
Yamaha PT3 - Rendering Details - The drill button on the bottom side is designed especially large, to be accessible in all different handling positions.
Yamaha PT3 - Twist to Tool Feature - The boring socket is armed in and out by twisting the chuck head. With the socket out, the drill can be used as stick-like drill for medium demanding screwing, drilling and milling jobs. Is the socket armed in, can the drill be placed on its charging station and charged if necessary.

resources and energy efficient drill concept

the Yamaha PT3 drill concept was designed to discuss material and energy usage of today´s semi-professional cordless powertools.
the aim of the project was to design a more resource efficient product considering the entire life cycle. the materials were selected carefully in order to create a long-living and desirable product which simultaneously requires minimal usage of resources.
its elegant shape and unique form was designed to suit aesthetic requirements of contemporary domestic environments or the desktop workspace of creative professionals. its innovative charging technology shortens charging intervals and reduces energy usage to a minimum.
