Pen & marker sketches exploring methods of attaching the head of the axe to the handle
Latch & Bolt attachment method. The head is made up of two parts that clamp around the handle and are screwed together. This allows the head to be changed out easily if the handle is broken or if an alternative type of back end is needed.

Firemans Axe Concept

Part of a project that I completed while earning my degree at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, I went back and touched up a few of the images and re-rendered some of my old models.

The concept was to create a modular axe designed for firefighters battling fires in different environments. The modular design also give the advantage of easy replacement of the handle which is the most common point of failure on these tools.
