As Creative Director of Second Story, Portland, and the West Coast you will lead the studio’s creative mission, inspiring our clients and our team through leading by doing. Your diverse experience and honed aesthetic will assure creative excellence and build on Second Story’s award-winning portfolio. Our studio is interdisciplinary and intensely collaborative. As part of the studio leadership you will foster a vibrant and nurturing environment for the whole team across all disciplines.

- Lead Portland’s multidisciplinary creative team
- Work closely with Second Story’s Executive Creative Director and Design Director to elevate the creative output of Second Story
- Grow the studio portfolio and business—lead the creative team from concept to delivery on all West Coast based opportunities and projects
- Play a key role in pitches and presentations to both existing and potential clients, instigating concepts and fast ideation to win business
- Provide inspiration to the studio—through thought leadership and an active research process across the creative sphere and beyond
- Proactively and respectfully lead, mentor, and motivate the creative team on all project work—this includes ensuring creative leads are managing client expectations
- Maximize accountability, creative ownership, and collaboration across the creative team
- Accountability for the quality of all creative deliverables
- Build an active and inspiring partnership with the studio’s technology leaders, embodying the multidisciplinary approach we take to all our work
- In partnership with the tech leadership, develop lab initiatives and innovation trajectories
- Foster an environment of multidisciplinary collaboration and creative problem-solving, ensuring our internal processes, training, and knowledge-sharing reinforce this perspective
- Continually seek to raise our industry profile through public speaking, judging, and lecturing

- 7+ years’ experience in creative leadership, developing digital and experiential projects
- Logical career progression within design and creative
- Established portfolio across experiential, activations, blending digital and physical worlds
- Proven track record of client success
- Adept at visualizing concepts across a wide range of mediums
- A proven track record of generating outstanding creative work and inspiring the same from others
- Recognized creative award winner
- Ego-free leadership style proven to motivate; adept at mentoring others in developing, communicating, and selling industry-leading concepts to clients
- Experience working closely with account, media, UX, research and strategic planning teams to formulate appropriate overall strategy for a project or client
- Charismatic and compelling presenter with superb interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding and appreciation for the distinction between creative expression and business objectives
- Effective organizational approach to performance management
