Managing Architect A/B
The New York City School Construction Authority (NYSCA) builds and renovates public schools throughout all of the boroughs. We believe that schools should be efficiently designed and constructed; they should be safe, attractive and environmentally sound. The SCA’s responsibilities span the life of each project (new schools, additions, and capital improvements to existing schools) from planning, real estate, budgeting, scoping, and designing, to construction completion.
We have an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Architect to join the NYCSCA Team. This position depending on the level is responsible for planning, implementation, managing and oversight of major, complex and varied school designs and construction of school projects. Other responsibilities include; managing technical staff, assigning and scheduling staff for projects, guiding and oversight of interdisciplinary project teams, participating in the development of scope and design projects, project budget and schedule management, participating in day-to-day operations and resolving issues during design and construction, reviewing and writing reports, enforcing rules, scheduling and chairing coordination and progress meetings, assist in the development of standards and procedural guidelines, ability to supervise assigned architects, field staff and /or engineers.
All levels require a valid New York State license as a Registered Architect.
Level A requires: Seven (7) years of full time progressive experience as a Registered Architect; three years must have been as a leader, project architect, or major project contributor
Level B requires: Eight (8) years of full time progressive experience as a Registered Architect
Four years must have been as a project leader, project architect or major project contributor
Current New York State license as a Registered Architect must be maintained for duration of employment for all levels.
