Job Description

Old Town Alexandria, Virginia-based health care-related trade association seeks full-time in-house Creative Director / Graphic Designer to lead the visual development and expression of our brand. Produces a variety of publications, marketing and branding materials using templates and original concepts. Two-person design shop; supervises the design manager. Reports to SVP Communications.

Responsibilities
• Design branding and marketing collateral for products, campaigns, and events
• Design and shepherd the design vision for association publications, including monthly 56-page magazine
• Create charts, graphs, and other data visualizations from raw data
• Conceive and create graphics for various social media accounts
• Work with print vendors to produce printed materials on schedule
• Develop graphics for web and video on an as-needed basis
• Manage print and graphic workflow
• Ensure quality work and timeliness of delivery across all creative projects
• Provide outstanding service and responsiveness to internal “customers” by using consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives, and find solutions to meet needs

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual design, fine arts, or related field
• 5+ years’ work experience in graphic design with a strong design portfolio
• Strong visual communicator with a sharp sense of design
• Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills required to assure design reflects organizational strategies and priorities
• Understanding of the print industry and production process
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac OS X environment, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and iMovie. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and After Effects is a plus
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to follow brand guidelines
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with careful attention to detail
• Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
• Strong sense of customer service
• Self-motivated, organized, and accountable
• Resourceful problem solver
• Ability to thrive under pressure with the ability to meet quick deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
