The Apparel Designer will have a passion for human centered design at the intersection of Apparel and Technology integration. You possess deep knowledge and expertise in technical/performance apparel design and development. You possess a high personal taste level, a reverence for modern design, and are passionate about staying informed of contemporary apparel trends. You are a self motivated, self starter, productive working independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You know state-of-the-art fabrication techniques and are proactive in learning what’s new across the entire landscape of design and production of advanced apparel. You have the ability to rapidly ideate and present your concepts clearly, both visually and verbally. You are confident working hands-on in a workshop environment making physical proof of concept mockups in iterative succession to solve challenging physical problems. You are equally skilled with CAD and graphics tools.
The Apparel Designer will report directly to the VP of Design and will collaborate with peers in Industrial Design, UX, Biomechanics, Engineering, and User Testing.
What You Need for this Position:
•Degree in Fashion/Apparel Design, or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience
•3 years (minimum) professional experience
•Broad knowledge of textiles and technical construction techniques
•Ability to sew and comfortable operating multiple machines
•Awareness of standard apparel industry development and manufacturing practices
•Ability to make Design/Development quality flat-patterns
•Strong communication skills
•Good project management skills
