The Product: Learning Services
The Chegg Learning Services group is the engine that makes Chegg go. Chegg’s Learning Tools include Textbooks, Study Help, Writing Tools, Math Help, Test Prep, and Tutoring – and there are ambitious plans to continue to expand into new services that improve learning outcomes. The focus of this role will be to support the Growth and Enablement team which supports across all Learning Services Student-Facing Products.

The Team: UX Design
As a part of the larger UX team, you will work with our fantastic UX Research team, product managers, marketing, engineering, and business owners to lead the design efforts for a variety of interesting UI challenges. At Chegg, design plays a critical part in how we build products. We involve user research, engineering and product leaders from the start of all projects. Unlike other companies, at Chegg, the UX Team owns the final decisions for UX Design and is also responsible for promoting UX led initiatives. We make sure everyone is in constant communication with each other, and we collectively own the performance of our work.

Role: Sr. UX Designer
As a Senior UX Designer, you will drive designs for new user experiences across Learning Services student facing products, lobby to influence our product roadmap, help define our UX process, run brainstorm and concept discovery sessions, craft visual mockups, and support engineering partners during development.

In addition to excellent interaction and visual design skills, strong candidates should have experience thinking in terms of end-to-end UI design, applying strategic thinking and business goals to designs, focusing on user feedback, and understanding the relation of visual design to the interaction. Of course, we also look for candidates with good collaboration skills, for working with product managers, usability researchers, and engineering.

Responsibilities:

Participate in the product definition process with the Product Manager, Engineering Manager, and User Research. Drive the clarification of the user tasks and objectives.
Develop user experience design concepts, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, usage scenarios, task analysis, specifications, and other UX design deliverables.
Work with User Research to craft user testing prototypes and protocols in support of ongoing user testing.
Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team.
Apply current design patterns and guidelines to create a coherent cross-device experience for desktop and mobile web products.
Ensure that visual design mockups meet the objectives of the user experience, fit with the overall brand and Design System.
Help contribute to and maintain Design System shared by the entire UX team
Job Qualifications:

5+ years as a User Experience Designer, creating excellent experiences that delight the customer.
High degree of creativity and problem-solving.
Ability to think and design holistically to create a cohesive and coherent product experience.
Exceptional understanding of fundamental design principles.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
Strong attention to the visual details (layout, typography, information hierarchy, etc…)
Proven leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in UX Design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) or similar tools to create user interfaces.
Understanding of current design patterns and guidelines for desktop and mobile web experiences.
Experience designing for both desktop and mobileweb or responsive web
Relentless attention to detail and to consistency.
Ability to rapid prototype ideas with different levels of fidelity (sketch, whiteboard, wireframes, etc…)
Ability to distill complex problems into clean and intuitive design solutions
Ability to collaborate well with the larger team and across teams.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, or a related field.
Preferred:

Experience designing consumer-facing products.
Experience working with and contributing to design systems, styleguides or pattern libraries
Experience building interactive prototypes or UI animations using tools like Principle, Framer, or After Effects a plus.
