SOFT SHELVES - These wall mounted storage units combine degrees of visibility and invisibility with the tactile nature of fabric - inviting the user to explore new storage possiblities for every day objects. (felt and stretch tulle)
"Bench a la Wegner" - Danish inspired bench. The slatted design was chosen to optimize the limited amout of wood available for this project. The result is a light weight bench constructed of sturdy maple that is just long enough for two people.
PitcherMates - Made from traditional slip-casting/plaster moldmaking techniques, these high heeled shoe inspired oil and vinegar vessels are made with a ledge and a recess to fit together as a pair.
Contextual Exhibit - The basis for this project was to create an exhibit based on a book. The book I chose was a children's book concerning a sad and lonely orphan. I chose it for its strong emotional content as well as for the book's unique construction using cut out frames that change as the pages are turned. From this came the powerful notion of how context drives perception. This exhibit employes oversized photographs and projected images that are taken out of context through the use of partially obscuring scrims, curved surfaces, and filtered projections. Viewers draw conclusions based on incomplete images that very slowly reveal their true nature.
Skinny Scrap Quilt - A love of fabrics and color blending inspired this quilt. It is a modern interpretation of a traditional hobby. I enjoyed the process because it celebrates a the surprise and charm of asymmetry and the uniqueness of a hand made line.
