Ender's Game :: Look Development, Texturing and Lighting

V-Ray shader look development and lighting for the Formic Interior Environments, Fighters, Mothership and Queen. I devised a procedural texturing method based on surface change which was baked into uv tile-space. The mothership was redesigned in house at Digital Domain, although I have to say I was a big fan of the original by the Art Dept (These first 4 views rendered in an early eve haze in a coastal environment). The revised version was flipped 180 deg and the front flanking gaps right and left became 'engines.' The queen was modeled and textured by the talented Chris Nichols at DD Vancouver, and lit by members of DD's lighting team both in Vancouver an Venice. The formic Interior 'temple' shots were lit by Diana Sear and Robert Frick at Digital Domain Venice using the procedural texturing system.
