Primo-Lacto is Maternal Life's first product. A 2-part closed system for colostrum collection. Primo-Lacto is intended for use when (1) mothers cannot or choose not to nurse their newborn or (2) the newborn can’t nurse due to trouble latching, or prematurity. Primo-Lacto enables the goals of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), a global program sponsored by the WHO and UNICEF. Primo-Lacto is a tool to help hospitals meet the criteria outlined in BFHI. Maternal Life recently won a $50,000 grant from the National Capital Consortium For Pediatric Surgical Innovation.
