Application is simple. To use the lock, the user would just have to give it a slight twist and pull the lock module away from its tail light bracket module.
Housed within this tough casing, is a piece of flat braided cable, made from interwoven high tensile strength steel alloy wires which is then encased in weather resistance polymer. On one end of this flat cable, it is attached to a spring mechanism similar to those used in a measuring tape and its housed within the casing, while on the other end, the locking bolt.
To unlock and keep the lock module, the user would just have input the correct lock combination, unlock and the flat cable would gently retract back into the housing.

The problem with most bicycle locks currently out in the market, is that its either an hassle to bring along on a cycling trip or the length of its chains are either too long or too short for practical fuss free usage. Even those which made to coil up, can be quite a struggle to use at times.

RedEye is a solution specially designed just to address that. With its main body made from tough magnesium alloy similar to those on high end DSLR, it is made to withstand the day to day abuse it might receive.

This project which won the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2014 was a collaboration work together with Designer Daniel Chua
