Epitaphs // Malverde
This pictures are part of the visual research I did as part of my master's degree. My project was based on mexican gang violence and how people go about their normal lives amidst all that death.
This images are a selection the epitaphs that have become part of the urban landscape in the town of Culiacan, Mexico. There are also images of Malverde's chapel. Malverde was an outlaw, a Robin Hood-like character that allegedly lived in town in the 1900's. Now a days, he has become a saint-like figure for immigrants, gang members and cartel bosses.
