PreVue - wearable fetal visualization device - Pregnant women only sense up to a third of fetal activity, hence they usually fret over seemingly reduced movement, releasing stressful chemicals into the womb, when all they really need is a way of knowing that everything is normal. Adaptive learning starts in utero, and fetal-maternal-paternal bonding allows prolongation of maternal relationship post-birth. It gives you the opportunity of early understanding of the personality, bringing you closer till the day it finally rests into your arms.
PreVue - wearable fetal visualization device - Highest fetal activity peaks between 9pm – 1am; which is also is around the time when mother goes to sleep. Before bed they have a habit of stroking / talking / singing to the baby in the belly and so using PreVue during this period is probably when you get most of the responses / interactions.
PreVue - In compliance with regulations outlined by the British Medical Ultrasound Society, I have proposed limitations on the device to a fixed frequency (7 MHz; commonly used in hospitals), maximum scanning time (20 minutes every 24 hours), timer and auto-switch-off function.

Interviewed mothers themselves would only use this device rationally, just to see how the baby is doing. Under such justifications, safety concern is at a consensus amongst regulators, medical professions, and target users.

PreVue - wearable fetal visualization device - The abdominal keypad is simple and intuitive for optimal haptic navigation, as well as emphasizing the connotative gesture of embrace. The abdominal screen is to welcome the father and other family members to participate in the process of bonding to keep the mother at a peaceful state of mind for optimum delivery and ongoing maternal relationship.
PreVue - PreVue can also be a telemedicinal tool for remote areas. It is approachable and intuitive for ease of operation, as well saving cost & time in transportation. For rural areas where midwives are still in practice, PreVue can provide assistance in helping parents-to-be connect and understand the health and development of the unborn child (hence reducing their ignorance, uncertainty and anxiety towards giving birth). It is lightweight, soft to touch and helps relieve any white-coat syndromes.

PreVue - wearable fetal visualization device - Engineers at the University of Illinois have come up with a stretchable LED screen where micro-LEDs are stamped onto rubber substrates which can be used for displaying biomedical information in the context of illness origin (and in my case, the foetus). The screen is backed up by a stretchable circuit board laminated and welded on the fabric layer. An eTextile project known as STELLA with participants including Philips looked into the feasibility of future eTextiles.

Appearance Model - Final appearance model with projected screen shots of a possible monitor outcome. Via a contextual screen you can observe the responsive expressions and reflexes of the foetus. The point of having an abdominal monitor is to reinforce the physical proximity by bringing the focus back onto the belly, whereas seeing it on an external screen at obstetric clinics disintegrates that relationship.
Ergonomics and material search well delved into for optimal comfort and conformity to incrementing abdominal dimensions throughout pregnancy.
