The Cryopen System is a cryosurgical medical device used in a doctor's or PA's office to freeze and treat skin disorders.
The doctor performs seven tasks with this machine in ?order complete the procedure. Therefore, each task had to require a “station” arrayed around the design according to the 7-step procedure.
The product had to be designed using various low-cost manufacturing techniques - mainly thermo forming + secondary cutting/milling operations for the details. Even though thermo-forming was used, a sculptural form was still able to come to fruition - as would be seen in normal injection molding processes.
The sculptural form evokes a soft + calm character which puts the patient at ease. The use of light + cool colors in the pen caps and console helps support that goal of comfort.
