McLaren MP4/73 - I can only imagine what type of racing Ayrton is enjoying these days . .
I've been a huge fan of the striking simplicity of the Marlboro MP4/4 era livery since I was a kid - and Ayrton's dominant presence as a driver always had me hooked. Kinda inevitable I'd want to work these icons into my Design script at some point . . .
I've had these odd, angular shapes and spindly volumes in my head for weeks - it feels good to finally explore them in 3D.
Hehehh . . this is an after-the-event "cheat" sketch using a CAD underlay and Photoshop post-processing . . I'd spent a few weeks freehand doodling angled opposed wings, tapering fuselages etc - but the geometry was all so wild it made freehand sketching the body-form a nightmare. In the end, I started blocking it out in Alias - and as soon as I did, the design quickly took shape.
Gratuitous use of exotic, lightweight materials in various shades of almost black . . . .
I'm loving vRED's ability to quickly turn around pleasing images.
The calm before the storm . . . we need to get this thing out on the track and see what its actually capable of!
