Project Architect, Designer, Creative Content Writer, Social Media Handler
Nov 2013 - Present (7 years 10 months)
I had started at Apical Reform as a Junior Architect and design assistant, and owing to a closely knit team of five designers, architects, CG artists and photographers, I was exposed to a varied scope of duties, ranging from design ideation and conceptualisation, design detailing and exploratory exercises (3D modelling and model making) to execution and timeline management.
Eventually, with the studio undergoing organic expansion, I was charged with the completion of the Studio office building as the Project Architect and also took over all manners of content writing and social media handling for the firm.
Apical Reform, not being a strictly architectural studio, also experiments in other disciplines of design, for example, products, furniture, functional art, etc. Through the three years, I was able to experiment with and explore various design languages, scales and materials. I gained some insight into methodologies followed in product/industrial and furniture design.
Jan 2012 - Jul 2013 (1 year 6 months)
As part of the terminal semester curriculum in my Architectural studies, I had joined architect Sameep Padora, in Mumbai, as a trainee, and went on to work as a junior architect. The scope of work included design exploration through extensive model-making under the guidance of architect Padora, design discussion, design philosophy, presentation and execution drawings.
During the latter half of my time at Sp+a, I was instrumental in setting up an off-base office in Ahmedabad.
At Sp+a, I was fortunate enough to work on a cornucopia of projects with varied scales and scopes. Some of them included, Mokila, a three phase housing program based in Hyderabad, the Roddam House in Hyderabad, Simplex Precast factory in Khopoli, Mumbai and an interstate bus terminus in Rajasthan.
