For the last 15 years I have gained diverse experience in product design, event and interior design, visual communication, branding, design for education, user interface, user experience and project management. I have worked internationally, managing large teams but also equally as hard individually with sheer graft. No task is too big or too small with sincere goals.
In 2007 I graduated with a 1.1 Honours degree, BDes. Industrial Design from the National College of Art & Design (NCAD), Dublin. Since graduating I continued with 7 years in full-time industry, followed by a Masters in Design for Education. After successfully completing my masters I have been exploring design and the world. Getting more curious and adventurous I hope to continue this diverse path, continue to learn and team up with like minded people.
My passion is in how things work and how to improve them. I aim to improve user experience while focusing on the bigger picture. Here’s a little insight into my thinking:
Design is everything we make, but also how and why we make it. Good design considers the entire process and the overall outcome. Good design is as little design as possible. When problem solving be aware of problems that solutions can create. Really understand the whys, it can render a lot of tasks obsolete.
Successful design is evident in nature, cross pollination is a co-op producing flowers and honey. Often in problem solving, nature and scientific thinking can reveal insights to the answers. The world functions in patterns.
If you can’t explain something simply, you don’t know the subject well enough.
Complexities exist but they don’t need to be complicated. The key to delivering an impactful experience is to approach it simply, engaging the senses and making every step of the journey one of function and beauty.
