Design of Bamboo chair - The underlying philosophy in the product is that of unity. The two parts, one dark and one light, which in themselves are incomplete, unite to make a single meaningful entity. The inspiration was derived from the symbol of ‘yin and yang’. For the fabrication I used industrial glue to hold strips of bamboo one over the other on top of a steel mould. Then layer by layer bamboo strips were added and clamped together. Thanks to IITG workshop for help during fabrication.
