Undergraduate Work - Overlay / prototype

Overlay was driven by manufacturing processes such as pressure moulding veneer to create its form and structure. The chair’s inspiration came from the growth of new fibers formed within growth rings found in wood.

The Overlay chair was designed to be stackable, as the frame and seat are not attached to one another. The curvature of the felt overlap the front and side rails while the back is upheld by the steel frame, making the chair secure when assembled together.
