A self-motivated individual with a hunger for design. The passion for sketching and visual communication naturally evolved throughout the journey of education, developing into an organised collection of skills. The knowledge obtained from previous employment along with internships and freelance activities has proven the capability of succeeding in the industry as well as having a thorough grounding of the process of new product development.

Having successfully obtained a first class honours degree in BSc Product Design, and a growing understanding of the commercial world, I am equipped with a creative mind, excellent communication abilities and I am now ready to push my potential to new and diverse heights.

    My Purpose:

To achieve employment within the design industry and become a successful professional designer

within the product/industrial or automotive fields.

Through the products that I design, the projects I undertake, I believe there is a chance to create influential solutions which improve everyday living - whether this be in a little or large way.

  • Education
    • First Class Honours BSc (Hons) Product Design
      The University of Huddersfield
      2010 - 2014
Subjects that the degree included were: working with CAD software packages, stress and strain analyses, surface and solid modelling, prototyping, manufacturing and fabrication methods, ergonomics, anthropometrics, hand sketching/rendering, business/market strategies and personal design projects. As well as providing a thorough grounding of the design process, the degree work has also taught me effective time management and prioritisation skills, organisation skills and analytical skills. During the degree, presentations to seminar groups as well as professional design consultancies as part of live projects were undertaken. This has aided in developing strong presentation and communication skills.

      Dec 2014 - Present (11 years 6 months)
Established in December 2014, working as a freelance designer providing a client focussed service with an emphasis on the development of user specific products. Most recent successes include working with a start up company in London to provide professional visuals and presentation renderings of a design based around open-source robotics. Other key project successes include creating CAD models and manufacturing specifications for a range of 31 homeware gift products for a small South Yorkshire consultancy and designing a smart backpack aimed at the vlogging community for two clients in the South East.

    • Product Designer
      Sensio Lighting UK Ltd.
      Castleford, United Kingdom
      Mar 2016 - Jun 2016 (3 months)
Working as part of the in house marketing and design team I was responsible for:

Developing the current product lines to improve aesthetic/function with far eastern suppliers, utilising SolidWorks as the main design tool to visualise new products from research to concept stage, liaising with the marketing department about product improvements and customer wants/needs presented in the form of professional research presentations, prototyping and testing of product developments using 3D printing, being actively involved with NPD meetings.

As the design department was still fairly new to the business, it was very interesting to see the research and development structure being developed to ensure further company growth, based on the efforts of the marketing department.
