Rebecca is passionate about wildlife animals and growing up with a pack animal (Alaskan Malamutes) and now working with Australian’s wolf (Dingo) has opened up her drawing skills to create impressive animal portraitures. Rebecca likes to work old fashion (pencil and paper) using natural colours and mostly works on a dark background. Her work is highly realistic and works from her own photography. Her ability to combined natural colours brings the figure to life and has the connection to have the original image and drawing to be relatively identical.
The most recent achievement was ruffle mid-December last year (2012), this was a fundraised towards The Toolernvale Dingo Discovery and Research Sanctuary organised by Furry Fandom, commonly known as Fur People. I placed an A4 size dingo pup drawing, done on a dark background and without being framed in the auction, not knowing that my artwork would sell as it was my first charity auction event, surprisingly it bid/sold for $165.
Other achievements were also last year completing Certificate 4 in Design. In the course one of the major projects was to take your own image of an old building and enlarging and draw in grey led (black and white). This project was to compete with other diploma and certificate students to exhibit only the best artwork. Therefore only 100 students’ succeeded in having their artwork displayed at Bundoora Homestead Art Gallery and were asked to place a price on their work. I succeeded in getting my artwork in and placing a price for $100, unfortunately my work didn’t sell but was satisfied that the work was displayed in the public’s view.
My last achievement would be completing high school and straight from there going into certificate 4 in Design and then a direct entry into second year Illustration.
