Boat design and plug building

My goal is to take the Exotic Car market and bring it to the boat world. I did this by taking baby steps with a Eliminator, DCB, Ultra and Cobra. By taking each design and slowly advancing it in order to train the market place. You can only develop an Industry by taking the leaders of that industry and advance them equally together. This inspires people and makes them excited to see whats next. If I did it with one company only the result would be total domination or complete collaps of that comany. Because "Domination" is because I was the only one doing it and no other company could keep up and the buying market would respond to the new designs of the one company. OR "Total Collaps" Is because the one company leading is so far in advance of the industry, it might scare the buying market and then they would not buy the advancing boats. This would also create alot of negative marketing blurbs by the companies left behind. So Total Collaps was not an option.

  • Good work Rob, I know how much work goes into making a plug like this.

  • Thanks Mark this boat only took me 3 months to build. Alot of wood bondo foam fiberglass. you know. I am also really good with clay work. My 1/4 scale cars only took me 1 week start to painted. can I say alot of patterns and measuring for duplicating from side to side

  • Nice work man, I really like this one. Reminds me of some exotic cars.

  • Cool model man, Rhino is my favorite tool. :)

  • Thanks Wyatt. My intent was to bring the high performance boat industry up to the exotic car level. Its taken me 10 years because you have to do it slow so that the buyers would take it in and spend the money.

  • Thanks Kat, It was a long hard road trying to get the boat industry up to the exotic car level. But now that its done exciting things are going to come out once the economy is repaired.

  • mine too

  • that's pretty cool. Is that end piece hand built or milled?

  • It is hand built out of wood and bondo. Both sides are perfect. I used alot of patters to ensure perfection.

  • well done Rob!

  • I worked on pontoon boats and applause you for that sweet rounded party area in the bow. Getting away from the cube is a breakthrough in this category. Great work Rob!

  • Thanks Joe. This design was done in the late 80's for Harris Kayot. The cost of the boat was 6k more expencive than its closest competitor and still sold like crazy, showing that even pontoon boat buyers are sensative to style.
