Mad Lab
The project evolved from an extensive research on gender and education, focusing on the under-representation of women in science.Primary research was conducted to triangulate research insight, including a cultural probe, questionnaire and focus group to solidify our findings and to help establish a suitable design outcome for this problem.
We found that we needed to target children and more specifically girls, to help encourage and foster their interest in science from an early age, as well as provide them with suitable role models.
Also, we found that it is important to equip teachers and assist them in teaching their students science.
Therefore Mad Lab was born: a web based application that utilises cloud computing to assist both students and teachers.
The project has been shortlisted in AGDA design biennale 2012.
**This was a collaborative effort between fellow designers Sarah Bayley and Sophie Shearer.
