Red Horizon Quilt

2016 entry for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Red Horizon 44”x69”.
Gradation from light to dark blue with red used as the horizon line. Blue represents calm and tranquility. The red horizon line can be interpreted as the past, present, or future. This line is the disruption of life’s experiences, good or bad (or somewhere in between), where nothing is predictable. Inspired by a watercolor I painted in 2010 also titled Red Horizon. Top stitched by hand mimicking stars piercing the sky and the reflection of light on water. Made from repurposed jeans and corduroy.
