FISK Fire and Rescue
When I took a new job in a different industry, I didn't realize my first project would call on all of the skills I had learned at my previous position.
A volunteer fire department came to our company asking for a functional truck with all the amenities that would fit into their budget. They provided a few suggestions, and left the main design to me. The design included the graphic layout and overall visual compilation, pump function, storage capabilities, and wiring.
After several meetings about the chassis and skid unit they provided, I was able to come up with a layout that they accepted. This did require me to negotiate with the lighting company for more safety and scene lights than were originally budgeted for.
We ended up providing the department with more than they expected. The cross-through front compartment was something that I insisted upon as volunteer departments keep vehicles longer and re purpose them more. This truck will provide them with opportunities to grow.
