My research interest is around "Hi-Tech Application on Product Design and Analysis for Human Health and Well-being." More specifically, I do research and teaching on (1) Application of emerging technologies to design and product development (Consumer perception or attitude toward the use of emerging technology; Functional and protective clothing (comfort and fit), especially for aging & obese people, firefighters, and athletics); (2) Virtual product simulation + Digital technology + Consumer (Prototype design and development in virtual worlds; virtual Worlds application to design and product development education; consumer/user perception and decision making process in cyberspace; crowdsourcing approach for product design and development; sustainable product design and development practices via emerging design technologies); and (3) Gerontological aspects of clothing (Clothing as a need satisfier for older person’s successful aging, smart clothing for older adult's healthy aging, usage of 3D body scanning and other associated technologies as an older adult’s health promotion tool, older persons’ attitude toward implementing emerging technologies in their daily life).

TEACHING:

I have taught/am teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of fashion and textile product design and development integrating with emerging design technologies. More specifically, I have taught/am teaching courses in computer-integrated textile and fashion design, fashion forecasting and product development, e-portfolio development, fashion illustration, fashion design studios, sustainable product design and development practices, research methods and statistics (i.e., survey methodology, quantitative research methods, SEM), and a variety of independent studies related with the above topics.

I am skilled at linking diverse fields in the design process, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and interested in applying my interdisciplinary methodology to sustainable design and product development using emerging technologies.
