Waitress
Sandcastle Diner
Beachwood, NJ
Jul 2011 - Present (12 years 10 months)
I waitress in a family owned diner. I often work long hours, most of which are spent standing, walking, and doing a lot of heavy lifting. My responsibilities often change according to the shift I am working, but generally I keep the restaurant stocked, clean, and organized. The job requires and has taught me exceptional multi-tasking skills, working well under high-pressure situations, as well as memorization. It has really shaped my interpersonal and customer service abilities.

CITI Office Assistant
NJCU
Jersey City, NJ
Mar 2011 - Sep 2012 (1 year 6 months)
At my University of study I worked as a grant employee during the fall and spring semesters. I managed the computer lab reserved for University staff, kept the ofï¬ce neat and orderly, assisted teaching staff with any technical problems they may have encountered to the best of my ability, set up equipment for presentations in classrooms, recorded events and I also checked/responded to ofï¬ce e-mails. I left because I had started my waitressing job, between that and school I did not have time to keep this one.

Tutor
Self-employed
2010 - 2011 (1 year)
I tutored a young girl in fourth grade math for a year. I had to come up with creative solutions to help her understand math in a new way. It was a lot more challenging than I had anticipated because she wasn't able to understand most of the traditional problem solving methods. Her grades did improve after a few months. I stopped tutoring her after that year because she had gained a lot more conï¬dence in the subject.

Cashier
Perlmutter Shoprite
Bayville, NJ
Oct 2009 - Jun 2010 (8 months)
As a cashier I learned a great deal about money handling as well as customer service. I was also required to restock returned and/or unwanted items and organize shelves at the end of my shift. I left because I was moving into school and the job was no longer practical to keep.

Pool Lifeguard
Sparkling Pool Services
Toms River, NJ
May 2008 - Sep 2008 (4 months)
To get this job I trained to receive my First Aid and CPR certificates. I also had to pass a physical test in the pool to make sure I had the stamina to react appropriately to an emergency. I was not only responsible for the safety of the pool occupants, but also checking and managing the pool chemical levels throughout my shift. I left after the season ended because they were not giving me enough hours.
