My interest in video games began with the release of the original Playstation and Crash Bandicoot. After experiencing the excitement, storytelling, and artistry of many great titles on a variety of platforms during grade school and high school, I realized that my interest in this medium had become more than just great game play. For me, drawing, animation, and developing my own game concepts & narratives had become as rewarding as playing the games. In time, I decided that I would dedicate my career to the pursuit of becoming a great game creator. To this end, I have spent a majority of my life cultivating the expertise necessary to develop the video games I aspire to make.
During my time at RIT, I have gained an understanding of a variety of programming languages from
C++, C#, Java, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. I have pursued a mastery of artistic fundamentals from animation, drawing, design, and 3D modeling. This has given me a wealth of experience of using artistic programs including: Photoshop, Maya, Illustrator, 3ds Max, GIMP, and Flash. I have developed an appreciation and understanding of the complex algorithms and mathematics that run the underlining systems within game code such as: transformations with global and local matrices, collision optimization with oct trees, and autonomous agent behavior using vector forces. In the course of learning and improving these skills, I have put a variety of them to test through numerous game development projects. To date, I have completed 12 individual projects and 6 team projects including a leadership role in a 4 person team that developed a side scrolling platformer game without using prebuilt libraries. I also have experience leading a project from conception to final public release.While all aspects of game design are important to me, I especially enjoy animation, optimizing playability, and developing a compelling narrative for each project I am involved in.
