Senior Design Technician
Kumfs Shoes NZ / Ziera Shoes NZ
Auckland, New Zealand
Jan 2000 - Present (24 years 4 months)
Starting out in the company as the CAD operator I was responsible for the input of 2D footwear designs into the CAD system, cutingt and grading patterns, tooling set up for production. Created tech packs for the factory, oversaw designs through the factory ensuring their commercial manufacturability. Learnt pattern pattern cutting, grading, making process for footwear from senior members of the team. Started design about 6 months after starting, which lead on to range development and building. Approx 2009 this lead to me managing the design department with 5 staff working for me. Rebranding of the company occurred during this period which involved product development aligned to the new brand image. I did this up until about 3 years ago when I became the Senior Design Technician in the same company where I am responsible for ensuring the ranges are manufacturable through our off shore factory and international suppliers. Still working very closely with Design to get their concepts through from sample to production. I also still design a small part of the range as time allows.
