'09 Impulse - Tournament Level Marker - This marker had exceptionally difficult design constraints, in that all of the body components had to be Swiss Turning Machine friendly for manufacturing purposes in our U.S. facility. Without the high-speed capabilities of traditional high volume production mills, no advanced surfacing could be used to create the model.

'09 Impulse - Tournament Level Marker - This marker had exceptionally difficult design constraints, in that all of the body components had to be Swiss Turning Machine friendly for manufacturing purposes in our U.S. machine shop. Without the high-speed machining capabilities of traditional high volume production milling machines, no advanced surfacing could be used to create the model.

The design was achieved using ball-end and custom profile cutters while maintaining the high-end styling tournament players have come to expect and competitors produce using forging or high-speed surface milling in overseas machine shops.

A last minute decision to continue revitalization of this historic product line with an entirely new operating system and manufacturing approach (in time for the next season's beginning) presented a challenging obstacle. Under a sudden and tight time line, sketching and modeling of machined body components had to be completed in under two weeks (weekends too), including addition of the innovative tool-less hinged eye covers.

The end result is one of the most innovative, sleek, solid, comfortable, reliable, easily maintained, and smoothest shooting high-end poppet valve markers available today. This project definitely put my extensive machining experience to the test.
