I am inspired by the movement of nature, particularly the sea; the vivid beauty of reefs and the dancing motion of their shoaling fish. A trip to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef made a lasting impression. Along with seeing the life, beauty and fragility of the reef islands, came the acknowledgment that this ephemeral underwater world may disappear in our lifetime. I want to capture this transient beauty, just for a moment, in my paintings. For me, and in my work, it will last forever.

Art Editor and Studio Manager
July 03 - January 2007, CSL Publishing Ltd, Cambridge, UK
- I was employed by Cambridge Style and Life Publishing on their most successful magazine Sport Boat & RIB as Art Editor for three and a half years. The magazine is aimed at sports boat enthusiasts. My job role at the company involved the design and layout of all editorial pages and working with repro houses, freelance journalists and photographers.
As my samples demonstrate, I had improved the magazines quality and identity resulting in increased sales. I worked closely with the editor and team to improve the magazine continually with fresh concepts for articles at a fast rate, maintaining high quality.
Being Studio Manager, I also managed a team of four designers. It was my job to make sure all pages were completed by myself and the other designers in line with the schedules therefore meeting the seven monthly print deadlines. I was highly efficient in organising my team and motivated them to perform a high standard of work. I liaised with production, editorial and sales teams on a daily basis and enjoyed the interaction between the departments. My employment here I feel has given me a broad base of design, management and publishing knowledge.
