Experience
Guitarist, Rush of Fools Birmingham, AL 2009-Current
This has been my full time job for the last 2 years. Responsibilities were loading heavy gear, working with merchandise, interacting with fans, and playing guitar. Things learned here that could be applied to working retail was how to listen and talk with fans, and learning to be prepared and flexible for ever changing scenarios.
Mens Team Lead, Urban Outfitters Birmingham, AL 2008
Team Leader in the Mens section. This required me to calculate sales numbers and percentages in sub categories of the Mens department. I also was in charge of how merchandise was displayed. In addition, there was lots of customer interaction that included answering questions about products and discussion on current fashion and trends. I would also work the register at the cashwrap. Advantages that could be applied from this job were learning about sales and stock rotation, and how to meet goals and make suggestions to customers based off this data.
Floor Sales, Urban Outfitters Atlanta, GA 2007
General floor sales and task rotation around the store. Lots of customer interaction and display adjustments. Made sure merchandise was always presentable to the standards of the company. Learning points here were working as a team to best help our customer while best representing the brand and company of Urban Outfitters.
Designer, Stamp Inc Auburn, AL 2006
Lead Graphic Designer and Stamp Inc screenprinting. In charge of talking with customers one on one about their ideas and goals for their projects. Information gleaned would be used to come up with design solutions to best fit their need. Also, project management was a large part of the job, taking ideas and working them from concept, to approval, to manufacturing, to shipment.
