EXPERIENCE

Hyphen Design - June 09 - September 2012

Working as part of a design consultancy in East London, developing products for a broad range of sectors, including consumer, professional, FMCGs and elevated brand experiences.

I have made a significant contribution to Hyphen as the first employee since the company’s restructuring and have been privileged to be involved in key company and business decisions. My role was pivotal in developing the internal brand culture and company strategy, furthering my understanding of design but also the role of the smaller consultancy. Leading projects allowed me to take an active role in nurturing client relationships and understanding their commercial needs.

i3- October 06 - September 07 (internship)

Working alongside design engineers in developing medical, consumer and industrial products.

My design input in a predominantly engineering led company, allowed i3 to explore new client opportunities and refine their engineering approach to design to be more human centered.

Astor Bannerman - August - October 06 (internship)

Working as a translator between carers and design engineers to create disability care products.

My role was focused around developing product aesthetics but soon encompassed meeting patients and carers to understand their needs and those of their ‘patients’, and conveying those to the engineering & manufacturing teams.

Minima Design - June 00

High school placement working within a Industrial Design team.
My time here focused my career aspirations. From this short period, I began to understand the decision process in bringing products to market, and the tools used to create them.

Graduation Project - ‘Mome’

A nursing bottle specifically designed to eliminate key concerns for first time parents.

Understanding how products have evolved in this market along with user behaviour revealed some interesting insights into user’s needs from both the parents’ and the babies’ perspective, a particularly challenging aspect.
