EDUCATION - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, VA Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design May 2007 WORK EXPERIENCE - Senior Staff Industrial Designer - Motorola Solutions - Holtsville, NY 2007-Present Designer of enterprise class handheld rugged mobile computers, bar code scanners, and two-way radios. As part of the CTO Organization I am responsible for leading multiple programs concurrently, interfacing with all aspects of the business including engineering, marketing, Sr. leadership, as well as external partners including ODM vendors and design consultants. Responsible for front end design as well as supporting design concepts through manufacturing and tooling. I focus on a heavily digital workflow including digital sketching, rapid 3D modelling and iteration using rapid prototyping, and photorealistic 3D rendering and animation. My specialty has been finding ways to implement new technology into the traditional design workflow. This includes physical computing and coding Arduino powered mockups for testing designs and validating experiences, developing cutting edge experiences around consumer hardware such as the Kinect and Oculus Rift, and looking for new markets to engage in beyond core verticals. Web Designer - Blacksburg Electronic Village - Blacksburg, VA 2006 Designed web sites for local community organizations, university offices and departments. Focus was placed heavily on accessibility and functionality, while maintaining a professional graphic design. Summer Staff - Virginia Tech University Computing Services - Blacksburg, VA 2004-2006 Worked as a top-level technical support consultant for students and faculty. Diagnosed and repaired complex software, hardware and network problems. Additional roles included presenting technical information sessions to large audiences during new student orientation, creating video advertisements, and designing print media. Cofounder, Webmaster - Flatlandfuel.com - Des Moines, IA 2000-2007 Helped start Flatlandfuel, an e-commerce business specializing in the sale of freestyle bicycle products, clothing, and merchandise. My role included creation and maintenance of the online store, the company logo, as well as design work for stickers, t-shirts and print ads. Technical Developer - C2 Creative - New York, NY 2000-2004 Technical developer at this marketing and web development agency, developing web based applications using HTML, Javascript, CSS.
