Sets trend direction in regard to pattern, color, textile, and materials across all brands, working in tandem with industrial designers and hardgoods team to ensure a cohesive collection. • Manages the end-to-end design process across all retailers and brands to maintain brand integrity, and ensure sub-brands retain their unique statement and look. Manages an 8-person team. • Assembles the product development calendar to guide design milestones throughout the year. • Creates mood boards and presentations to educate internal and external customers on consumer industry trends. • Develops collection-specific color palettes appropriate for juvenile, home, and interior goods. • Participates in line review presentations with internal and external customers, sales teams, and buyers to ensure accurate and complete sample production. • Evaluates suppliers in regard to cost of goods, manufacturing capabilities, and engineering constraints. • Identifies key trade, trend, antique, and print shows to attend for inspiration and research. • Assists in recruiting and onboarding new talent based on evolving business needs. • Collaborates with global styling partners to innovate brand ideas and push new products forward to consumers. • Contributes to limited edition product lines, including a current collaboration with designer Rachel Zoe. Design Manager | BRAHMIN LEATHERWORKS Jan 2014 – Dec 2014 Promoted from design developer to design team lead, overseeing a 6-person creative and product development group. Provided seasonal design and product direction for 7 different collections of genuine leather handbags, accessories, and small leather goods, integrating seasonal color palettes and trends while maintaining the brand aesthetic. • Created and refined the line plan to distribute silhouettes and collections based on sampling calendar milestones. • Sourced and developed core materials in new colors and textures. • Presented seasonal collections to showrooms, account buyers, and national sales teams. • Sketched, designed, and sampled a new jewelry collection targeting direct retail channels. • Traveled to international tradeshows to source materials, research markets, and acquire design inspiration. • Pitched and won approval for a new line jewelry, tasked with sourcing new vendors and producing initial samples. Senior Manager of Hardware & Jewelry | COACH Aug 2009 – Jan 2014 Guided all stages of hardware and jewelry development from initial concept through bulk approval. Appointed by leadership to assist with the development of new materials and concepts for future collections and sub brands. Supervised a 2-person staff within the hardware team, rotating among multiple sub-brands and categories. • Developed concepts and sketches based on trend forecasts for new accessory products and materials. • Partnered with raw materials suppliers to produce CAD renderings for approval, and sourced new suppliers. • Worked with engineering and technical design teams to define hardware functionality. • Communicated with overseas partners on quality approval and bulk delivery. Traveled abroad to meet with factories and Asia Coach partners, attend trade shows, and research competitors in European and Asian markets. • Guided advanced development research and innovation for all materials outside of the leather/fabric categories – including hardware, plastics, enamels, rubbers, silicones, logo concepts, and leather techniques and manipulations. Presented concept boards to global corporate teams based on season. Director of Trim Design | POLO RALPH LAUREN Aug 2003 – Aug 2009 Designed trims and hardware for all womenswear categories – from seasonal concept to final product approval – for the Lauren, Lauren Active, Lauren Jeans co., and Chaps brands. Supervised a 3-person team in developing fresh concepts, implementing new materials, and ensuring cohesive seasonal aesthetic in alignment with Polo brand standards. • Acquired knowledge of all hardware and trims, building a full library for all individual brands and categories. • Created artwork and orthographic drawings detailing trim numbers for manufacturers. Presented trim boards at concept reviews, handing off season to production team. Participated in all development fittings. • Built and maintained relationships with vendors, and traveled overseas to work with agent partners and suppliers. • Developed items within cost per brand relative to project, while maintaining color consistency across categories.
