Lisa enhanced her knowledge and skills in design by complimenting her degree with internships in a number of studios in the UK, Barcelona and Milan working on a broad range of products from sofa’s to medical boxes, and from sushi plates to lighting. Due to this varied experience, she brings the enthusiasm, drive and fresh ideas that young designers offer, coupled with experience across different disciplines and markets.

Experience

Helix Lighting, Wellingborough Oct 2009 - present
Part of the National Lighting Company, and a supplier of all forms of domestic lighting to many major high street retailers.

Skills - Working primarily on the Laura Ashley, Bhs and Great Little Trading Company accounts, following design briefings from the buyers, with involvement throughout the design process from concept generation, presentation and development, through to communicating the designs to the factories in China. Working with many materials, (including wood, metal, fabric, paper, ceramic) finishes, and processes. An appreciation of the cost implications involved with supplying the high street, and the importance of range analysis and trend awareness.


Homeheaven, Uttoxeter April 2008 – Oct 2008
Designers and British manufactureersof upholstered furniture. Suppliers of John Lewis among others.

Skills –Working to the limitations of the company but maintaining creativity in design. Full responsibility for the creative direction of new products. Sourcing and communicating with suppliers and producers. Answering and transferring calls to deal with customer queries. Involvment in obtaining Carbon Neutral status for the company.


Reliance Medical, Congleton Part time June – Sept 2008
A major UK supplier of medical equipment, with an in-house graphic design team.

Skills – Responsibility for 3D design tasks, including generating graphics and drawings to assist manufacturing. Basic graphic design work for price lists and Promotional flyers.


DesignCode, Barcelona Jan –April 2008
“Promote take-away design: Sensational design within reach of everyone”

Skills – Working for Hiroshi Tsunoda, with full responsibility for my assigned projects. Good time management skills, juggling multiple projects and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Learning new skills quickly when required. Attention to detail.


Isao Hosoe Design Studio, Milan Sept –Dec 2007
Industial design studio with 40+ years of experience

Skills – Working under the instruction of Isao Hosoe, and collaborating with designer Francesco Pozzato. Responsibility for rapid blue foam prototypes, particularly hand lathing. Confidence in presentation hosting, and the ability to make positive changes in response to criticism.

• Physical Activity - Sports, and outdoor activities help me to relax and remain healthy. At school I played hockey at a county level, and had England trials. As a result I have developed excellent team skills, and I am extremely driven towards team and individual goals, which I pursue with energy and enthusiasm.
• In the future I would love to travel and experience a diverse range of cultures.
• Subscribed to Living etc magazine and enjoy visiting design and culture exhibitions.
