Despite English not being my first language, I did very well academically when first coming to the US. In the forth grade I competed against a handful of peers, and ended up being a finalist in the school-wide spelling bee. The winner would go on to the county level. It was down to three kids. The word I failed to spell was "illustrator". I spelled it with a single "L". I wish I was making this up. When I got my hands on a dictionary, I realized what it was and knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. On walls, notes, report cards, toilet paper, newspapers, magazines. I had phases where everyone was drawn as either a Treasure Troll or a Simpsons character and I never stopped drawing. Some people tap their feet when they're nervous, or they count. I drew. Choosing a career was never difficult for me.
Illustration is something that I have always been passionate about. It is the one thing which remained a constant throughout my life. My professional goal is to translate that passion and experience into something beautiful. Having studied art since the age of 12, I am pretty good with clay and canvas, but my current specialty lies in vector work. Samples can be seen on http://magaly.carbonmade.com/
