WORK EXPERIENCE
2008-09
Woodshop-Metalshop Monitor
Worked for the Rhode Island School of Design as both a woodshop monitor and metalshop monitor. Aiding students and faculty in both creative and technical aspects of design and construction.
Rapid Prototyper
Worked for the Rhode Island School of Design’s Furniture Department as a monitor for the Rapid Prototype Machine. I aided students, learned the in and outs of the machine, and learned the necessary programs to use the rapid prototyper.
The Meshberg Group Summer Internship – Furniture Designer
Designed furniture using reclaimed wood (columns, beams, floorboards) from a building torn down and rebuilt by the Meshberg Group. The building’s lobby now houses one of the designed benches.
2007-08
Adaptive Design Summer Internship – Furniture Designer
Designed furniture for handicapped children, with cardboard as the chosen medium. Also redesigned the the lobby area and the display case.
RISD Foundation Class Teacher’s Assistant
Assisted Foundation Class teacher, Ellie Hollinshead, as a teacher’s assistant in the Freshmen Foundation Drawing class.
Assisted Foundation Class teacher, Deborah Coolidge, as a teacher’s assistant in the Freshman Foundation 3-D class
2006
RISD Inside-Outside Schoolyard Initiative
Engaged with the Boston Schoolyard Initiative and Hope High School and developing design precedents for schoolyards as vital outdoor laboratories that recognize the complex whole of nature and the urban environment.
2004-05
WOW Art Studio: Assistant Fine Arts Instructor: Assisted in the creative thinking process of student artworks as well as teaching the basics of drawing, painting, and three dimensional works.
