2013 World Design Summer Camp

The summer camp was held by Hong Kong Design Center (HKDC). Design students from different backgrounds were devided to two tracks - fashion track and social innovation track. At the end of the camp, every group had to present an art piece to reflect how we feel about Hong Kong. We started our project with three keywords to define Hong Kong: Evolve, Innovate, Recycle. From a small fishing village to an influential Asian harbor city, Hong Kong has been evolving with time pass. As the city booming, however, huge amount of waste are made every single day. To reflect such consumer society, we present our work in ironic way - Upcycle wastes that were found in traditional market, fisher village, and hidden alleys deep in city, and integrate them to a fashion window display design. By seeing the window diaplay, consumers may realize that the more products they purchase, the more waste they make.
