WORK EXPERIENCE
Product Designer
Spin Master Ltd., Toronto, Ontario 2007 - 2011
Spin Master is a medium-sized Canadian entrepreneurial multi-category children’s entertainment company with offices in Canada, US, Europe, Asia and Mexico with an approximate revenue of 700 million dollars annually.

Responsibilities of this position included design responsibilities (Designer) and managing the product as it went through its product life cycle (Product Management)

Designer: Designed the product’s aesthetics and function through an iterative process from concept to manufacturing:

• Organized and facilitated brainstorming sessions with multidisciplinary teams which resulted in innovative design solutions for appealing TV-featured products
• Directed in-house model shop to create proof of concepts for complex mechanisms resulted in ample time saving in the prototyping phase
• Created 3D models for print to study and analyze aesthetics details, ergonomics, proportions and fit which resulted in time savings within the development process
• Prepared detailed feasibility packages (engineering drawings, exploded view and BOMs) to direct Far East model shops which increased efficiency in the development process
• Directed local or Far East model shops to create prototypes to further test the feasibility of design which resulted in many cases of cost savings in the specified design
• Reviewed prototypes and adjusted designs to hit the target cost which resulted in major improvements to the profit margins

Product/Project Management: Responsible for carrying through and driving forward the various projects from the beginning conceptual phase to final stages of manufacturing within an agile environment:

• Managed over 10 brands, each involving more than 2 SKUs either in house development or direct distributions
• Worked within interdisciplinary teams consists of brand managers, preliminary and cost engineer, QA and QC, structural packaging designer, graphic designer, corporate planner and trade marketing to delivered more than 30 products according to market strategy and corporate calendar
• Attained alignment with the management and the executive team on a weekly or biweekly basis
• Worked on cross media brands with TV spots, viral and web advertising through social media and MMOG properties which resulted in larger reach to corresponding demographics
• Directed and delegated work to outside talent for concept development which lead to increased efficiency
• Collaborated with offshore business partners, the inventor community, and software developers.
