"Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated", says Paul Rand, American Art Director and Graphic Designer. And I couldn't agree more. For me design is not a dish on the menu that is the served in the same way for everyone. My endeavor is to listen strategically, understand well and deliver a graphic that meets all expectations. 'Functionality' in a pictorial representation is what I aim at.
FILMFARE is a magazine under the Worldwide Media (WWM) umbrella, a subsidiary of The Times of India group. It is the official handbook on anything in hindi cinema. With its exclusive interviews, classy photo-shoots, insider stories, sneak peeks, Bollywood fashion coverage, movie reviews & special features, Filmfare captures Bollywood’s biggest stars and divas at their most colorful and candid best. It is India’s No. 1 entertainment magazine and Bollywood's oldest award show and has a readership of almost 2 million. It is a fortnightly magazine which is being brought out on a tight deadline.
» Giving art direction in designing page layouts of FOB, BOB, cover stories, covers, special issue grids and maintaining the look and feel of the magazine.
» Conceptualize and execute cover shoots for Filmfare Awards.
» Plan, commission and execute photoshoots of bollywood stars with ace photographers.
» Complete coordination with the production team to ensure 100% accuracy and set quality standards.
» Constant check on cromalin proof of layouts before they are sent for printing to ensure accuracy and presentation.
» In 2006, joined as a Designer at Outlook Business magazine. Our strongest contenders were Business Today and Business world, who are in the industry for ages.
» In 2007, got promoted to Senior Designer.
» In 2008, promoted as a Chief Designer. The magazine became number one in terms of design and hold the number two position in terms of circulation across India.
» In 2011, got promoted to Design Editor. As per the statistics, the magazine circulation beat the competitors and achieve the number one position in market.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
» Lead the art department and overall design of the magazine.
» Designed and visualized grids & guidelines for anniversary issue, special issues, special reports, covers, cover stories, FOB, BOB, features, info-graphics, illustrations and redesigning of magazine.
Worked with photographers, illustrators to produce high-quality work.
» Incorporate ideas and made revisions in response to the well-reasoned criticisms of other team members.
» Worked with the production team to deliver quality.
» Designing artwork for mailers, posters, signage, and flyers for upcoming special issues to be sent to clients. Also made and uploaded e-magazine on web.
» Joined as a Designer in 2000.
» Promoted to Senior Designer in 2002
